Echigo-Yuzawa Onsen in Niigata is conveniently accessible from Tokyo.
Once you step off the Joetsu Shinkansen, you are already in the heart of the hot spring town.
Many visitors come to this area, but with a car, you can explore even more hidden and fascinating places.
Following a legal revision in March 2024, certified guides are now permitted to use their private vehicles to guide guests. ※1
The rice fields of Uonuma producing the famous Uonuma Koshihikari, art installations scattered throughout rural villages, the magnificent geopark landscapes, and snow that accumulates 2–3 meters deep in winter.
And after enduring the long, harsh winter, delicate “spring fairies” bloom beautifully.
For guests who arrive in Echigo-Yuzawa by Shinkansen without transportation, I wanted them to discover more of the charm of Japan’s snow country. With that passion, I began working as a guide.
As a local guide, I share regional stories while introducing seasonal highlights, unique experiences, delicious cuisine, recommended souvenirs, and everything that makes the Yuzawa–Uonuma snow country area so special.
We also collaborate with other specialized local guides who know the region deeply, planning tours that utilize each guide’s expertise.
Through our guided tours, we invite you to fully experience the beauty and culture of the Yuzawa–Uonuma snow country region.
In December 2025, we officially registered as a Region-Specific Travel Agency
(Niigata Prefecture Governor Registration – Region No. 483).
This allows us to arrange accommodations and transportation such as buses, and to sell travel packages.
If you are a local community member who wishes to organize rice-planting tours with accommodation and transfers included, or to offer snow country experiences as packaged travel products, or if you are a company representative considering incorporating snow country experiences into corporate training programs, please feel free to contact Yuzawa–Uonuma Guide Yukiiro.
※1 According to the “Guidelines on Transportation Not Requiring Permission or Registration under the Road Transportation Act,” licensed interpreter-guides and officially recognized public guides are permitted to provide guiding services using private vehicles.
As neighboring municipalities have not yet fully established a certified guide system, we have submitted our experience and qualifications to the Hokuriku District Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and operate after confirmation that we possess equivalent experience and knowledge to certified guides.
